Larry Elder Dominates in Reform California Recall Poll of Grassroots Activists

The grassroots activists that powered the Recall signature drive are uniting behind one candidate in the upcoming Recall Election – namely Larry Elder. Reform California today released the results of a statewide survey of 18,724 of its grassroots contributors and volunteers that it conducted between July 21 and August 2. The poll shows that Larry Elder captured a whopping 74.8% of support from activists as their “first choice” candidate.

“I expected Larry Elder was going to do well among our supporters but even I was shocked by how big of a margin Elder has among activists statewide,” said Carl DeMaio, Chairman of Reform California.

“If Elder were not in this race, the ‘second choice’ question reveals that activists are leaning towards John Cox or Kevin Kiley but many are still legitimately undecided,” noted DeMaio.

“What is also clear from this survey is Kevin Faulconer, Caitlyn Jenner, and Doug Ose are simply not resonating with the activist base in California – raising serious questions as to whether they can even be viable in the Recall or a regular primary election,” concluded DeMaio.

DeMaio says the survey results should send a clear warning to insiders at the California Republican Party who plan to meet this Saturday, August 7 to consider whether to endorse a candidate in the Recall.

“The insiders at the California Republican Party will kill grassroots enthusiasm for the Recall if they go behind closed doors and try to a single Replacement candidate – especially if that candidate is completely uninspiring and comes from the far-left like Kevin Faulconer,” argued DeMaio.

Even though Elder garnered overwhelming support, Reform California is not issuing an endorsement in the Replacement side of the Recall Election and has chosen simply to release the results of the survey publicly.
